Aurora Onorato: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

I had this short conversation with Aurora Onorato at PhotoExpo 2008.  Onorato works with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.  NILMDTS is a nonprofit group that helps (with photography) families facing the loss of a child.  NILMDTS writes:

"For families overcome by grief and pain, the idea of photographing their baby may not immediately occur to them. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives."

I have a friend who just volunteered with NILMDTS.  I'm hoping he will call in his story soon.  Another friend (Sandra Coan) from college has worked with Soulumination.org.  I'm going to do a phone interview with her soon. She doesn't know it yet. . .

Rachel Dodson: Blue Earth Alliance

I spoke to Rachel Dodson of Blue Earth Alliance at PhotoExpo 08. Blue Earth Alliance is a non-profit (based in Seattle)  that assists photographers working on diverse projects. Snowstorm & Darkroom

Catherine Wert tells a brief story of teaching her daughter (Sarah) how to use the darkroom during a snowstorm. I asked Sarah to tell me the story. Here it is.

I was sitting at the Blurb booth at Photo Expo looking at at one of their display books.  While sitting there looking at this great book made by a photographer from RISD (he posted an invitation on Craig's List for participants in a portrait project. . . then he published the portrait and the response to the post in a fabulous book. Sara? Do you know what book that was? I want to email the photographer) I met Sarah and her mother and recorded two short conversations with them.  Here is my conversation with Sarah.  Thanks Sarah.
